The NBA (National Basketball Association) released its newest partnership with one of the biggest United Kingdom gambling operators. The gambling operator is none other than the well-renowned William Hill. According to the terms of the partnership deal, the British Bookmaker will be the partner and authorized sportsbetting operator of the NBA on the US territory. The new partnership makes William Hill the 4th NBA Authorized sports betting operator. The United Kingdom Company will join three other partners of the NBA. These other partners are MGM Resorts, The Stars Group, and FanDuel. The deal between William Hill and the NBA is not the first one of its kind between William Hill and a sports league in the USA. Almost a years ago, in March of 2019, the company reached a partnership agreement with the NHL (National Hockey League).
Exact Terms of New William Hill Partnership Still Unclear
Neither of the partners has revealed the specific amount of this new partnership agreement. According to reports, the partnership contract has a 7-figure amount. Also, under the terms of the deal, William Hill is going to get full access to the official NBA league marks and betting data. The data will be available through the sportsbook lounges and mobile platforms in the USA. That is not all, as William Hill will get promoted across all of the different digital assets of the NBA. These assets include the social media platforms of the associations, the mobile application, and the official NBA website.
The new agreement represents another investment for William Hill in the UK sportsbetting market. The deal comes not long after one year following the decision of the Supreme Court. Like last year, the US Supreme Court finally lifted the ban on sportsbetting around the country. The new deal also serves the UK operator well, as it has been looking to expanding its presence in the United States market.
The NBA – For Easer Gambling
The American NBA has taken many steps that aim to make gambling more accessible. The deal with William Hill clearly shows that. For example, last month, the Board of Governors of the NBA announced a set of new rules. These rules included anti-tampering provisions. One of the regulations in specific relates to that matter. It is the rule that stated that teams have to inform of their starting lineup 30 minutes before the match. The new law might show that they want things to be more transparent to the fans and other teams. On the other hand, many analysts state that the rule was mainly for gambling. So the new deal with William Hill is an important step.
